West Florida Public Library System to Celebrate Library Card Sign Up Month on Location

The West Florida Public Library System (WFPL) is joining libraries across the nation in celebrating September as Library Card Sign Up Month.

Residents of Escambia County or active duty service members living in Escambia County may obtain a library card for the WFPL System free of charge at any of its locations.

Giveaways such as bookmarks and Friends of the Library-donated copies of Tim O’Brien’s book, The Things They Carried, will be distributed in advance of The Big Read.

Libraries are a valuable resource in our community offering services as varied as story time hours to expose young minds to the joy of reading and hands-on instruction in computer usage, as well as free access to books, magazines, CDs and DVDs.

Do you know your free library card provides the following services valued at more than $100?

Use a computer: $12
Ask a librarian: $7
Reserve a meeting room: $25
Attend a program: $15
Read a library book: $15
Borrow a movie: $4
Borrow a CD: $10
Access online resources: $10
