Journey back in time to Cross Creek, Fla., in the 1930s and 1940s. In a one-woman show, Karen De Vos, a retired teacher and school librarian, transforms herself into the beloved author and Pulitzer-Prize winner Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings of “The Yearling” during the heyday of her writing career. Vintage clothes, props, and a slide show add authentic touches to the portrayal of Rawlings’ life and provide a glimpse into how the natural beauty and the colorful “Cracker” culture of northern Florida influenced her literary works.

  2. Whoops! Guess my editing of Cathy’s submission left it out. I’ll take care of it after work this evening.
