Happy New Year - vaccines are coming but wear your mask to keep us all safe
We are removing the Wreaths Across America wreaths from 19,500 gravesites at Barrancas on Sat., Jan. 16 and could use some help. If you have DoD ID, can access the base, and would like to help, contact Marcia Sevold at mcsevold@gmail.com. The times are 8-10:00 and 10:30-12:30. You must wear a mask, have gloves, and a long pole, rake, PVC pipe is useful for gathering up wreaths, bringing them to the street, and loading them on pickup trucks. Help off-loading the trucks at one of the five dumpsters is also helpful.
Due to COVID restrictions, you must register with Marcia mcsevold@gmail.com and be assigned a time and place - New or Old Side. Please refer to www.barrancaswreaths.com for details.
Gate Update
Work begins Monday the 11th. It will take about a week as slabs have to be poured and cured.
As I understand it, they will upgrade the gate actuators to commercial grade and install additional sensors to bring the system up to code. I believe the additional sensors will eliminate the problem of the gates closing on your car if you enter before the gates have completed their cycle.
Wonderful!
